The Reproduction Process:
To assure unparalleled fidelity of
reproduction, printing master Martino Mardersteig's prestigious
Stamperia Valdonega of Verona, Italy, was engaged to produce the limited
edition. Uncompromising in standards of excellence, Stamperia
Valdonega's reproductions are prized by collectors the world over.
Specification:
Haggadah Volume:
Size: 32 cm+39cm (12.6"+15.35"). 72 illuminated pages with gold leaf.
Paper: The Old Mill 190 gram acid free, mould-made rag paper, from a paper mill
in Italy was chosen in order to reproduce the vibrant colors of the
original manuscript.
Printing: Printed offset litho in up to 8-10 special colors with gold
leaf stamping.
Companion Volume: Includes an essay by Dr. Marc Epstein describing the
illumiuations. Photographs of the actual Jerusalem buildings that
inspired the illumiuations will delight the reader.
Composition: The essay will be printed in English in "Baskerville" cast from 18pt Monotype matrices and with titles and initials set by hand from display type.
The paper will be uncoated, durable, white 140 gms.
Printing: All text will be printed by letterpress directly from the
hot-well casting. All images will be reproduced in doutone and printed
by offset.
Binding: The Haggadah will be Smythe sewn and bound in full goat skin leather and
the companion volume will be bound in sturdy buckram cloth for easy use.
Both volumes will be housed in a handsome slipcase.
Edition: Limited to 500 numbered and signed copies (1-500) for sale and
50 AP copies.
The printing plates will be destroyed after the run, in order to ensure
the value of each Haggadah.
